In this series on Fly Fishing Techniques we will cover everything from how to set up a basic fly fishing rig to step by step instructions on tight line nymphing. I will also discuss casting techniques, drifting and hook sets, and techniques for fighting and landing big fish. Though most of my experience as a fly fisherman has come from time on the water, much of this knowledge has been broadened by reading and listening to what others are doing (or not doing) and then applying that thinking to the river. This is a great way to develop your skill set and add to your arsenal of fly fishing tactics. Some tips will work for you and others won’t. Tweak them to fit your own unique style and approach. This will make you a better fly fisher.
